The Building Control Section has four Building Control Officers, two Assistant Building Control Officers and a Building Control Technician, under the direction of the Head of Building Control. The team includes a chartered structural engineer and a fire engineer, and can offer unrivalled local knowledge and experience. The Development Team Approach can be adopted for appropriate jobs, involving the Planning Officers from Yorkshire Dales National Park where Richmondshire District Council is not the Local Planning Authority. Informal, pre submission enquiries and consultations are welcomed.

The council is part of the national Partner Authority and Type Approval Schemes.

Site inspections will be carried out on the day requested, provided that the request is received before 10.30am. Wherever possible, inspection requests received after that time will be responded to on the same day.
